Each week we’ll look at the history and utility of some of the greatest abilities in the Hunter’s arsenal
This week’s ability is Master’s Call. It’s an invaluable tool for PvP, and one that should not be overlooked in PvE. I will admit that I’ve not sought out too many occasions to use it in raids, but I suspect if I looked hard enough, I’d find them. Let’s talk about what it does. Here’s the tool tip.
“Your pet attempts to remove all root and movement impairing effects from itself and its target, and causes your pet and it’s target to be immune to all such effects for 4 sec.”
This is very similar to a Paladin’s Hand of Freedom ability. The important difference is that this is a pet ability. It requires your pet to be alive, in range, and in line of sight. You can use this ability on yourself, or on another friendly player. Once used the target becomes immune to similar effects for four seconds or eight seconds if you use the Glyph of Master’s Call.
If you’ve ever seen a Pally use Hand of Freedom, then know you probably could have used Master’s call. I haven’t used this enough, and information on this ability is somewhat scarce. My understanding is that it does not work against stuns, fears, mind control and the like. In other words, if you or your pet is unable to perform an action, you will not be able to use this ability. Now whether or not you can use it to break stun on another player, I don’t know. If you ever find yourself slowed or rooted, or find a team member slowed or rooted, then Master’s Call can come to the rescue.
I’m still training myself to use this ability, but as you progress through Siege of Orgrimmar and other raids, have you found uses for Master’s Call? Let me know.
It’s useful in Fallen Protectors fight, when you get hit by Rook’s Corrupted Brew. Also in Galakras boss on first tower when you get thunderclapped.
I usually use it only on myself, I’m too lazy to care for thers. 😛
