Things I Tell Myself

I’ve decided to torture myself by adding a SWTOR countdown widget to my site. You can find some nice ones here. As of this writing there are 77 more days until SWTOR is released. Early release will presumably shave off a few of those days, but not many.

So as I anxiously await for a beta invite, and idle away my time in anticipation of December 20th 2011, I think back to where I was a year ago, and where I am today.

A year ago I was anxiously awaiting December 7, 2010 and the release of the Cataclysm expansion for World of Warcraft.

December 10th came, and it was glorious. Then a strange thing happened – time kept on going. That buffet that seemed so grand and tasted so good was now serving up the same meal months later. The food and its quality remained unchanged, but now I was tired of eating it.

SWTOR will have it’s glorious release, but a year from now our characters won’t need leveling, we’ll know the beginning and end of each and every story, and we’ll have run the Eternity Vault so many times that we’ll actually feel sorry for that poor tauntaun we slaughtered to start the raid each time.

So if you’re having trouble waiting for December 20th to arrive, just tell yourself that in a year from now you’ll be tired of eating the same food every day, and you’ll be banging on BioWare’s door begging for a new menu.

Oh, and if you get this to work for you, please tell me how, because it sure as heck isn’t working for me.

I WANTS ME SWTOR!!!
