The Brew Hall Turns Seven!

That’s right folks, The Brew Hall turned seven this week. The blog was officially launched on March 17, 2009, to virtually no fanfare whatsoever. It was purely a whim, and I’m pretty sure alcohol was involved.

I’ve told this story a few times before, but after the first week I was ready to pull the plug on the site. The Hunter blogs that were out there, and there were many at that time, were so darn good that the prospect of having this blog was intimidating. I headed over to OutDPS.com, a Hunter blog that started about a month before me, and there on its blog roll was The Brew Hall. Someone had found me, and liked what they read. I decided to keep going.

That someone, by the way, was Euripides. He and I both happened to play on Drenden, and we established a friendship and a podcast. In August 2009, The Hunting Party Podcast was born, and it too continues to roll on.

I had no idea at the time that I would still have this site seven years later. It’s changed a bit and I’ve branched out from writing about Hunters in World of Warcraft to also writing about Star Wars: The Old Republic, as well as Star Wars.

It’s been an incredible ride that’s led to new friendships and adventures like meeting Euripides and Frostheim for Episode 200, attending BioWare’s Guild Summit in 2012, and most recently Star Wars Celebration and Blizzcon in 2015 where I got to meet many friends that I’ve only known virtually, and make new ones (I’m looking at you Cantina Cast folks).

I’ll admit that I’ve not given the blog the love and attention that I did in prior years, but I know for some there is comfort in just knowing that it’s still around. That said, I’m not done yet, and to quote my favorite character from Star Wars, “this baby’s still got a few surprises left in her.”

Thank you all for the support you’ve given these last seven years. You are the best!

  1. Congratulations! Few blogs hang around that long, reduced post frequency or not. Apparently I started my own WoW blog four months after you; I guess it was just a good time for MMO bloggers… 🙂

  2. Yay! Congratulations Darkbrew, I think I have been reading this blog for almost as long as it has been active and I have no regrets, thankyou :).
